  • I spend significant time organizing my prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs.
  • I have been admitted to the hospital because I made a mistake with taking my medication.

Questions & Answers

Q: Why is it important to take my medications exactly as my doctor prescribed them?
A: Your good health is the answer. Your doctor wants the prescribed medications to work as well as they can for you. If you don’t take them the right way, your symptoms could get worse. Or, it could lead to a hospital stay or a nursing home admission.

Q: How does the RxMAP keep my medications organized?
A: Your daily medications are combined into one customized, calendar-style punch card. For each dose time (morning, noon, evening and bedtime) and day of the week, there is a pre-filled, plastic pill cup of medications for you to take. The empty pill cups provide a visual reminder of when you took the last dose.

Q: How much does RxMAP cost?
A: It’s FREE! There are no additional costs to use this service – only the monthly copayments that you already pay for your medications.

Q: How much medicine comes in each RxMAP?
A: Each RxMAP punch card holds seven days of medicine. You’ll receive four blister packs each month. (If you have 90-day prescriptions, talk to the Pharmacy Counter pharmacist for details.)

Q: Is it hard to open the cups?
A: No. It’s easy to poke through the foil on the back of the clear, plastic cup. Then dump the contents of the cup into your hand.

Q: Can my vitamins, supplements and daily aspirin dose be added to the RxMAP?
A: Yes. During your personal consultation, the pharmacist will review all of the medicines you take. This includes your prescriptions and any over-the-counter vitamins, supplements or aspirin that is part of your daily medication regimen.

Q: What happens if one of my prescriptions changes mid month?
A: Call The Pharmacy Counter. We’ll pick up your RxMAP, update it with the new medication and deliver back to your home.

Q: How do I know I am getting the right medication in my RxMAP?
A: A registered pharmacist will work with you and your doctor to verify all medicines, doses, timing of doses, and directions. The pharmacist will ensure that medications don’t interact with one another. This is especially important if more than one doctor is prescribing medications for you. Then the pharmacist will organize the medications in the RxMAP according to your doctor’s directions.

Q: How do I refill my medications?
A: We’ll remind you each month! The Pharmacy Counter will keep a record of the medications you need to fill monthly. We’ll communicate with your doctor closely so that your medications stay up-to-date with your doctor’s orders.

Q: How will I receive my RxMAP cards?
A: The Pharmacy Counter will deliver it to your home for free. Or, you can pick it up at one of our three metro-Toledo locations.

Q: Do I have to take the whole card with me when I won’t be home for a dose?
A: No. The perforated cups make travel easy. Just tear off the doses you need and take them with you. You can take a single pill cup or more. They go where you go.

Q: What insurance carriers does The Pharmacy Counter accept?
A: The Pharmacy Counter accepts most major insurance carriers.

Q: What if I have questions about my medication?
A: Call 419-720-2170. A pharmacist is available to answer your questions Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
