Active in national leadership positions: served as member of the Executive Council of the Society for Vascular Surgery, Board of Governors of the American College of Surgeons and its Advisory Council for Vascular Surgery and as an officer of the American Venous Forum. He is a member of 21 regional and national professional societies and many national committees for vascular surgery activities
Author of more than 100 books, research publications, and textbook chapters. Current research includes three-dimensional vascular imaging methods, medical management of claudication and carotid surgery for prevention of stroke
Serves as visiting professor teaching at medical institutions on five continents and frequent speaker at national meetings
