The Fourth Vascular and Endovascular Symposium

This symposium has been developed as a collaborative effort of the Medical College of Ohio Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Division and the Jobst Vascular Center at The Toledo Hospital a member of ProMedica Health System, to focus on advances in vascular, endovascular interventions and noninvasive evaluation of vascular disease. This two and a half day symposium is designed to bring updates to health care professionals dealing with vascular diseases, including vascular surgeons, general surgeons, radiologists, cardiologists, internists, nurses, vascular laboratory technologists, and residents in general surgery, vascular surgery and cardiology. Many of the speakers are renowned for their contributions to the field of vascular surgery.

Objectives:
  • Manage vascular trauma in the thoracic aorta and peripheral vessels
  • Realize the role of endovascular grafts in managing AAA and role of the new generations
  • Present and manage cerebrovascular ischemia, recurrent carotid stenosis and carotid stenosis in the high risk patient
  • Comprehend the role of the cerebroprotective devices and arterial closure devices in endovascular interventions
  • Explain the noninvasive evaluation of arterial and venous diseases including ultrasound, CTA and MRA
  • Manage SFA occlusive disease by balloon angioplasty stenting, cryoplasty, drug eluting stents and subintimal angioplasty
  • Manage varicose veins and venous insufficiency with surgery, laser, radiofrequency and valvuloplasty
  • Diagnose and manage of thromboembolic disease, role of anticoagulation versus thrombolysis, role of new anticoagulation agents in thrombosis treatment and management of DVT in pregnancy
  • Diagnose and manage critical limb ischemia, heparin induced thrombocytopenia and role of angiogenesis in ischemic limb management

The ProMedica Health System is accredited by the Ohio State Medical Association to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.

The ProMedica Health System designates this educational activity for a maximum of 6.75 Category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity.

For Vascular Technologists and Sonographers, Society for Vascular Ultrasound Continuing Medical Education (SVU-CME) credit hours are available on a hour-for-hour basis and may be used to fulfill the continuing medical education requirements necessary to retain certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or for accreditation with the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (CAVL). Approval of Continuing Medical Education credits is pending.

The Medical College of Ohio and St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.

The Medical College of Ohio and St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center designate this educational activity for a maximum of 10.75 Category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity. This program is acceptable for up to 10.75 credits in Category 2-A of the American Osteopathic Association.
The Ohio Board of Nursing accepts continuing education approved by other disciplines, i.e. Category 1 AMA credit, toward nurses’ continuing education requirements.
