Endovascular Surgery

Because of our belief that remote access, minimally invasive procedures have the potential to transform vascular surgery, we made a commitment in 1994 to develop the region's leading endovascular program...

  • The JVC Endovascular Team, Toledo, Ohio is among the world leaders in the use of minimally invasive surgery to treat patients with abdominal aortic aneuysms, the EVT Ancure device, and has already has experience with the 5 types of endografts
  • Specially trained vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, vascular nurses, vascular technologists, operating room staff and clinical researchers comprise the JVC Endovascular Team.
  • JVC participated in the first endograft trial in the United States, the EVT Ancure device, and has already had experience with 5 types of endografts.
  • Dr. Hugh G. Beebe was the national co-principal investigator directing the Vanguard aortic endograft trial to assess the safety and efficacy of straight and bifurcation endografts.  JVC was the first institution in the USA to use the Vanguard endograft.
  • JVC is one of 5 centers investigating the Edwards (formally Baxter) LifePath endograft for abdominal aortic aneurysms.  The JVC Endovascular Team was selected to perform the first case in North America.
  • Patients treated by minimal surgery with endografts placed entirely from within the blood vessel have no abdominal incision, typically are treated without blood transfusion, and are home from the hospital within 2 days.
  • JVC physicians and researchers are regularly invited around the world to talk about endovascular surgery techniques, patient selection and the latest imaging methods, including computerized 3D imaging from CT scans, 3D ultrasound and intravascular ultrasound.
  • Treatment options depend on size and shape of the aneurysm as well as the patients general health.  Although not all patients qualify for endovascular treatment, the experienced surgeons at JVC work with each patient to determine the best treatment method.
  • The JVC Endovascular Team meets monthly to study the latest technology and keep informed of worldwide events regarding this quickly evolving field.
