  • Following medical school and residency in general surgery at Temple University School of Medicine, he completed his fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio
  • An active member of numerous professional organizations: American Surgical Association, the Society for Vascular Surgery, American Association of Vascular Surgery and the Society of University Surgeons. He served as president of the Peripheral Vascular Surgical Society, American Venous Forum, the Delaware Valley Vascular Society and the Philadelphia Academy of Surgery
  • An examiner for the American Board of Surgery, a consultant to the Food and Drug Administration, editorial board member of three major journals and a reviewer for 17 others
  • Author of more than 220 books, research publications, and textbook chapters
  • Current research interests include management of arterial and venous disorders, gene therapy, noninvasive diagnosis of vascular disease and the effects of platelet inhibiting drugs
