Student Internships at the Jobst Vascular Center

In an effort to apply expertise and local resources to the sophisticated, mathematical analysis of ultrasound images, Jobst Vascular Center created a working fellowship program with the Department of Engineering and Computer Science at University of Toledo. The resulting "win-win" contract provided Jobst Vascular Center with a graduate level engineering student whose knowledge and interest in the area of computer programming and image analysis has provided valuable software tools and insight for JVC researchers. For the Department of Engineering and Computer Science, the Jobst Vascular Center provides an opportunity for engineering students to apply their classroom knowledge and gain practical experience working with "real-world" applications. The fellowship program began in 1995, and hopefully, will continue with new projects as they develop with imaging research at JVC.

In addition to the formalized fellowship program with University of Toledo, JVC often provides opportunities for college students with high-level skills from the Toledo area who may be home for summer vacation or between semesters. In 1996, a record number of four undergraduate college students completed an assortment of projects designed by JVC staff.
