Current Clinical Research Studies

Clinical research is an important part of the daily activity at JVC. Identifying an important clinical problem, designing an appropriate protocol that answers the question at hand without compromising patient care, and tenaciously recording the outcome with attention to detail are the building blocks of good clinical studies. Thoughtful data analysis, solid statistical evaluation, and putting the recorded information into the perspective of current patient care are the end products that ultimately advance the field. The final achievement that puts the stamp of credibility on any project is publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Observations from around the world have documented that patients participating in clinical trials are much better off than those who do not, even if they are in the “no treatment” or placebo group. The attention given by medical personnel involved in the trial, the necessary safeguards integrated into protocols, and the pure educational advantage that patients receive translate into overall healthcare benefits for patients.

Angie Link, RN, clinical research coordinator, examines patient enrolled in a research study at JVC.
