Fields of Green

Healthy habits that can last a lifetime start at home and in schools. With this in mind, ProMedica launched the Fields of Green initiative in 2008 to raise awareness about proper nutrition and exercise and to increase access to healthier food in under-served areas. Fields of Green is an umbrella for a variety of education, health and nutritional programs developed by ProMedica.

Past community programs have included: the Let’s Move program, which focuses on raising healthier children; the Healthy Kids Conversation Map® Program, which empowers elementary children and their parents to make good decisions about eating and physical activity; and, most recently, by examining the issue of hunger and its effects on the health and well-being of the communities we serve.

As part of the comprehensive initiative, ProMedica also launched a Fields of Green scholarship competition to raise awareness about childhood obesity and to foster new ideas that are then implemented in area schools. Learn more about our current scholarship challenge, "Come to the Table," which focuses on addressing the problem of hunger in the community.

Through Fields of Green, ProMedica is planting seeds of health for today and tomorrow.

Scholarship Challenges

As part of ProMedica's comprehensive Fields of Green initiative, we have launched an annual scholarship challenge for high school students to raise awareness about childhood obesity and to encourage innovative ideas that will be implemented into area schools. A new scholarship challenge is introduced each year for area students to help combat childhood obesity in the region, with this year's program focusing on the issue of hunger in our communities.
